Patinaai Osim is a term of endearment, used by Maasai mothers preserved for their children, loosely translates to, “my little one who brings me joy”. We envision to have an Empowered Maasai Community through capacity building of children, women, and youth.

Programs

Patinaai Osim aims to educate and empower children, women, and youth through our holistic education, reproductive health wellbeing, skills development, and youth engagement programs in the Kenyewa community of Kajiado County. We tackle gender inequality head-on to ensure all human rights are respected while empowering and growing the Maasai community. There is a HUGE need and demand for our programs to address the specific challenges children, women, and youth living in pastoral communities face. Our programs are education and empowerment focused. The Maasai community being highly patriarchal, inequality and human rights violations are experienced mainly by children, women, and youth. We advocate for their rights to ensure no one is left behind and their rights are respected.

Education

Quality education for all is the single most effective way to reduce poverty, improve health and economic well-being, and bring development to communities throughout the world.

Sexual and Reproductive Health

Good sexual and reproductive health and maternal health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being in all matters relating to the reproductive system.

Sustainable Livelihoods

Women and youth especially in the pastoral rural communities face unprecedented challenges to their livelihoods, their identities, their institutions, and their sense of place in the evolving global village.

Environmental Sustainability

Climate change threatens the livelihoods and well-being of all people and societies. Yet the impacts of climate change are likely to be worse for the poor and marginalized.

Our mission is to create sustainable livelihoods and empower pastoral communities to speak up and uplift their social-economic status.
